About Us - Faculty - Mission

The Department of Urologic Surgery at Vanderbilt University Medical Center is dedicated to providing state of the art medical and surgical care in all aspects of adult and pediatric urology. The clinical faculty, under direction of the Chairman, Dr. Joseph A. Smith, Jr., is one of the largest in the country and includes nationally recognized leaders in all of the domains of urologic care. Vanderbilt is one of the highest volume hospitals in the country for urologic surgical procedures. We have a comprehensive approach to patient care which incorporates innovative diagnostic, treatment, and research capabilities.

The Department of Urologic Surgery at Vanderbilt has recently been honored as being amongst the best in the country in the 2007 US News and World Reports hospital rankings.
